Fuel flexibility and fuel efficiency are always relevant issues and the MAN B&W two-stroke diesel engines are capable of providing unrivalled fuel flexibility and fuel efficiency - also for stationary application.
The environmental footprint is in focus in the stationary market and CO2 emission is an important factor, which is directly related to the carbon content of the in-fired fuel and the fuel efficiency. In this connection it should be noticed that the efficiency of the MAN B&W two-stroke diesel engine is unique when it comes to simple-cycle mode. By utilising waste energy for additional power generation, i.e. combined-cycle mode, it is possible to further decrease the CO2 emission. Utilisation of waste heat for preheating purposes, i.e. process heating for the power plant itself or for nearby industry requiring warm, hot or cold process heat for various purposes, is another advantage when applying MAN B&W two-stroke diesel engines.
The MAN B&W engines of our design are characterised by robustness, reliability and easy maintenance, which are preconditions for achieving an availability of more than 8,000 hours per year.

In conclusion, MAN B&W two-stroke diesel engines are a viable option to be investigated and chosen by clients anywhere where reliable and fuel-efficient reciprocating engines are required, especially if the fuel is of a poor quality.
The future development of such engines will be dictated by the market, particularly by the future fuel oil and/or gas prices and qualities, and the trend seems to point in the direction of even more efficient and more environmentally friendly units.
